Purpose: Support a multi-disciplinary land development team by providing technical and design assistance in cartography, database management, and spatial analysis.
Job Responsibility:
Perform routine geospatial data acquisition, organization, and updates
Develop and maintain GIS spatial data resources and infrastructure
Conduct desktop reconnaissance, utilize geoprocessing tools, and perform data analysis to support GIS project initiatives and business development efforts
Provide technical support to other GIS users at Bowman
Support the maintenance and operation of GIS equipment, software, and products
Assist in the design, development and administration of geospatial databases, maps, web-based applications, and other related GIS products and deliverables
Support development of project design methodologies and present final deliverables to clients when appropriate
Assist with quality assurance/quality control of geospatial data, maps, and other GIS-related deliverables
Execute project assignments independently as well as in a teamwork environment
Perform related duties assigned by the Branch Manager, Team Leaders, and other Project Managers
Compile data from various sources and file formats as well as assess quality of acquired data
Perform as-needed data conversion and ensure/enforce data integrity
Develop and document GIS procedures to support standardized methodologies and workflows
Present GIS work at meetings, conferences, and workshops
Assist in training new GIS users at Bowman
Participate in GIS community-based user groups and conferences to support continued education and awareness/implementation of GIS industry products, methods, and related technologies
Develop proficiencies in programming, use of LiDAR-derived data and products, remote sensing data/techniques, and AutoCAD to supplement GIS initiatives and projects
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, geography, GIS, or related field, preferred
Entry level position, no prior experience required
Any GIS experience a plus
Knowledge of ArcGIS software, geodatabase concepts and editing tools
Proficient in data management, mapping techniques & methods, and Microsoft Excel
Introductory knowledge of AutoCAD, basic GPS techniques, land planning, and zoning, preferred
