The Geriatric Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides advanced practice psychiatric care to older adults experiencing mental health conditions, cognitive disorders, and behavioral disturbances.
Job Responsibility:
Provides advanced practice psychiatric care to older adults experiencing mental health conditions, cognitive disorders, and behavioral disturbances
Conducts comprehensive psychiatric evaluations
Develops and manages individualized treatment plans
Prescribes psychotropic medications
Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and quality of life
Requirements:
Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program
Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) by the ANCC
Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN)Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and license in the state of practice
Prescriptive authority and DEA registration (or eligibility)
Minimum 3-5 years of experience providing psychiatric care
