Terracon is growing and seeking to hire a Geotechnical Project Engineer in our Pittsburgh office. We work on a wide range of geotechnical engineering projects including commercial, transportation, energy, and federal projects throughout the region. This position is for a 5-plus year professional experienced in projects of varying size and complexity. The successful candidate will have the ability to review/understand project design documents and construction plans & specifications; and have experience in the development of work plans and cost estimates for geotechnical site investigations and engineering consultation.
Job Responsibility:
Provide engineering and consulting services for a broad array of projects and clients
Perform and/or lead field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations
Design and development of plans and specifications
Observation and inspection
Writing, preparation, and review of related reports
Review drawings and construction to assure compliance with plans and specifications
Prepare proposals and cost estimates
Track and evaluate project progress, budgets, and recommend changes
Research and resolve design and construction problems
Assign, review, and evaluate laboratory or field data for inclusion in reports
Apply sound engineering principles and communicate complex issues to technical and non-technical clients
Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects
Participate in pre-task planning
Report safety issues or concerns
Provide and lead continuous quality monitoring and improvement
Monitor and promote quality standards and practices
Provide consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery
Manage detailed phases of projects with moderate size and complexity
Independently perform variety of projects or selected segments of larger projects
Plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work
Work closely with senior-level project managers
Make design, engineering, and construction recommendations, adaptations and modifications
Prepare proposals and reports for small and large projects
Perform quality control review of proposals written by others
Evaluate complex laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports
Serve as technical adviser to junior-level project team members
Interact directly with client and project team on developing scope of services
Communicate project progress and findings
Write and prepare routine and complex engineering reports
Participate in marketing, sales and business development
Supervise graduate, field and project engineering staff
Work under supervision of Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer
Begin documented mentoring and application process for Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer certification
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Minimum 5-8 years' experience
Master's degree in engineering preferred
Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history
