Job Description:

Perform observations and documentation of geotechnical exploration activities (e.g., soil/rock boring or, test pits). Communicate with project manager, other engineering technicians, client representatives, contractor’s representatives and others as applicable regarding the project site, project requirements, testing, observations and results. Transport material samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis. Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in the form of written and digital reports as work is performed for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager. Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles and work areas. Adhere to strict safety standards.

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform observations and documentation of geotechnical exploration activities
  • Communicate with project manager, other engineering technicians, client representatives, contractor’s representatives
  • Transport material samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory
  • Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in the form of written and digital reports
  • Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles and work areas
  • Adhere to strict safety standards
  • Provides clear documentation of findings and results
  • Communicate information to Project Manager and discusses accuracy of data
  • Submits documentation and communicates results as directed
  • Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility
  • Maintains assigned equipment
  • Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements
  • Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work
  • Report safety issues or concerns to management
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards
  • Performs fieldwork for geotechnical subsurface investigation
  • The fieldwork will include logging of geotechnical sampling of soil and rock
  • Perform other tasks/activities as required

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months experience preferred, but not required
  • Successful completion of related internal safety certifications
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history
  • Obtain 10-Hour OSHA certification within 6 months of hire

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience in outdoor/field working/driving conditions is preferred, not required
  • Previous experience in Geotechnical drilling/sampling preferred, not required
