Job Description:

Brierley Associates is seeking a highly motivated Geo-Structural Engineer to join our Boston office. You will work on challenging projects involving deep excavations, deep foundations, SOE systems, tunnels, and other complex geo-structural systems across North America. While based in Boston, you will gain exposure to complex projects nationwide, collaborating with teams across multiple offices. Job Responsibility:

  • Assist senior engineers with design and analysis of SOE systems, slurry walls, and foundations
  • Prepare engineering calculations, sketches, and technical reports under guidance
  • Support development of construction drawings and specifications
  • Participate in field investigations and construction observation
  • Learn and apply geotechnical and structural principles to real-world projects
  • Use software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudios, Mathcad) for modeling and design tasks
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to project meetings

Requirements:

  • BS in Civil Engineering (MS preferred)
  • Structural engineering background with interest in geotechnical engineering, OR geotechnical background with interest in structural engineering
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Familiarity with analytical or design software is an asset
  • Experience with programming is a plus
  • Willingness to travel for short-term field assignments
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability and commitment to obtain PE license within 2–4 years (PE preferred)
