Job Description:

This is an entry-level role, and you will join the 2Excel Geo team on a 2-month fixed term internship based at our Sywell site. This is a hybrid style position with pre-planned visits required to our base site in Sywell, Northamptonshire.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supporting production activities to deliver commercial projects.
  • Assisting in the creation of flight plans to support airborne data capture.
  • Assisting in the processing of raw data into analysis-ready data (including navigation data, airborne photography, hyperspectral data).
  • Assisting in the exploitation of remotely sensed (processed) data into geospatial products.
  • Contributing to Quality Assurance of project outputs.

Requirements:

  • Candidates should be currently studying, have recently completed their studies, or have equivalent experience in one of the following subjects: Remote Sensing, Earth Observation, Geomatics, Geospatial Science, GIS, Cartography.
  • Candidates with a background in other Sciences (i.e. Biology, Ecology, Conservation, Geography, Geology, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics) are welcome to apply but should have awareness of Remote Sensing fundamentals and demonstrate some experience of working with geospatial data.
  • Ability to work to deadlines (time management).
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform tasks and achieve results with a high degree of accuracy and precision.
  • Team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well both independently and with others to achieve common departmental goals.
  • Ability to work in an organized, logical manner and to follow a prescribed process.

Nice to have:

  • Experience of using Remote Sensing or GIS software for data processing and/or analysis (e.g. ENVI, ERDAS Imagine, ArcGIS, QGIS, Correlator3D, Pix4D, eCognition)
  • Proficiency with standard geospatial vector/raster formats.
  • Awareness of the importance of Coordinate Reference Systems.
  • Basic programming experience (Python, R or IDL).
