Job Description:

We’re seeking a dynamic, client-focused geospatial leader who thrives on building strong relationships, securing new opportunities, and delivering trusted GIS advisory services. In this pivotal role, you’ll combine your commercial acumen with deep technical expertise to win work, grow our client base, and shape innovative geospatial solutions. As the Geospatial Growth and Advisory Lead you will develop strong relationships externally and internally, working closely with our Business Line Digital & Innovation Market Leaders and CRMs across Australia, to identify opportunities early, shape them into clear propositions, and convert them into secured projects. You will be comfortable operating in a matrix, proactive about building pipeline, and able to translate geospatial capability into outcomes clients will fund while lifting the confidence and capability of teams across all Business Lines. The role reports to the Digital Technology Director and can be based in either Sydney or Brisbane Stantec office.

Job Responsibility:

  • Identify, qualify, and progress opportunities to win new clients with clear need, budget, and decision pathways
  • Build and maintain a strong, measurable pipeline of geospatial opportunities (short-, mid-, and long-term)
  • Lead pursuit planning for priority opportunities (stakeholder mapping, client strategy, win themes, next steps)
  • Convert early-stage conversations into funded scopes through clear value propositions and practical delivery approaches
  • Work across all Business Lines to embed geospatial services into broader pursuits and programmes
  • Partner with Business Line Digital & Innovation Market Leaders and CRMs to Spot geospatial “attach” opportunities within existing accounts and upcoming programmes
  • Develop simple, repeatable “offer packages” that CRMs and Market Leaders can take to market (problem statements, outcomes, approach, proof points)
  • Own and grow senior client relationships for geospatial advisory, building trusted networks across executive and delivery levels
  • Lead client meetings, discovery sessions, and workshops to uncover needs and translate them into clear scopes and outcomes
  • Lead or significantly contribute to proposals, including scope, methodology, resourcing approach, and commercial inputs
  • Lead advisory engagements such as Spatial / geospatial strategy and roadmaps
  • Shape pragmatic recommendations aligned to client constraints, risk appetite, and implementation realities
  • Support cross-team collaboration so geospatial capability is well integrated into multi-disciplinary projects

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in client-facing geospatial advisory and/or GIS consulting
  • Demonstrated ability to win work: originating opportunities, shaping scope, and supporting conversion
  • Strong relationship-building skills across senior client stakeholders and internal matrix teams
  • Confident workshop facilitation and ability to translate complex needs into clear recommendations
  • Strong written capability for proposals and advisory deliverables
  • Understanding of modern GIS and spatial data ecosystems, integration, governance, and implementation considerations
  • Degree in Geospatial Science, GIS, Geography, Surveying, Engineering, Computer Science, Data/Information Management, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Commercial mindset with a genuine client-service orientation
  • Comfortable operating in a matrix: influencing without authority and enabling others to win
  • Proactive, organised, and accountable—clear follow-through on pursuits and client commitments
  • Collaborative, inclusive leadership style that strengthens team capability and confidence

Nice to have:

  • Experience working across multiple sectors e.g., government, transport, water, environment, resources, property
  • Relevant professional certifications/memberships are advantageous
What we offer:
  • Genuine Flexible Working Arrangements - Including work from home opportunities, provision for school term contracts, job sharing and part time employment
  • Option to purchase up to 4 weeks additional leave
  • Learning and Talent Development Programs - Including Global programmes, online learning and on-the-job learning
  • Mentoring for your own development and the opportunity to mentor others
  • A friendly team environment, with dedicated and enthusiastic staff committed to producing high quality service and deliverables
  • Professional Memberships
  • Salary Continuance Insurance (SCI)
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing Programs
  • Service Recognition Awards
  • Employee Assistance Program
