The Geologist will support the Geotechnical Manager and will manage the scheduling, quality assurance and project management on all Geotechnical related matters.
Job Responsibility:
Provide expert technical advice
Manage the assessment of Geotechnical design solutions against technical criteria
Manage complex projects to a budget within the role’s scope of works
Support the Project’s requirements in delivering a project against safety, quality, regulatory, legislative, environmental, safety and cost requirements
Ensures compliance with all Geological and Engineering aspects of the Deed
Ensures compliance with legislative requirements
Ensures reporting is submitted to the Client as contractually required
Managing the delivery of works of all Geological activities
Support and supervise the Construction Department and Subcontractors in ensuring work carried out, such as boreholes, excavation, installation of dewatering recharge and monitoring wells, pilling and diaphragm walls is compliant with regulatory and Deed requirements
Provide professional service such as consultation, investigation, planning and design for the purpose of assuring that the geologic elements affecting the structures, works or projects are adequately treated by the responsible engineer
Act as the technical lead in ensuring work is carried out in accordance with the design
Identify any potential design issues and provide possible contingency solutions
Prepare work schedules and work instructions
Assist in the review of design modifications and provide technical advice
Assist the Design Manager in providing required data for periodic internal and client reports
Obtain relevant approvals to carry out required works
Requirements:
Recognised tertiary qualifications within Engineering, Geology or a relevant Geoscience field
White Card
At least 5 years of construction Geological / Engineering experience including soil and groundwater sampling and contractor oversight during drilling activities
Exposure working on a major civil infrastructure project of comparable size and complexity to the SNOWY 2.0 project
Extensive experience in the development and implementation of Geological management systems and plans
Experience working within a Technical or Design department, assisting in Design, Planning and support the construction / production teams against required criteria
Experience in Geotechnical approvals process, ideally gained within civil construction and preferably in NSW
Technical competencies in Geoscience, project engineering and management
Sound Geotechnical knowledge with regards to Design Engineering
Advanced technical skills
Sound knowledge of technical engineering specifications
Sound project management skills

Ability to work to deadlines and targets and can prioritise tasks under pressure
