We are seeking a dedicated History & Geography Teacher to join our founding team at a brand-new SEND secondary school opened in September 2025. Located in Chaldon, Surrey, this is a rare opportunity to shape a Humanities curriculum from the ground up, specifically designed for young people aged 11-16 with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing needs.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver high-quality History and Geography lessons tailored to students with autism and complex learning needs
Set, monitor, and review personalised targets to optimise learning for each student
Contribute to the review of EHCPs, PEPs, and LAC reviews, ensuring academic and social needs are met
Manage challenging behaviours through a non-confrontational, reflective approach in line with school policies
Maintain short, medium, and long-term plans while providing subject leadership across the school
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or equivalent
Proven experience delivering a differentiated curriculum to pupils with SEND
Sound knowledge of the National Curriculum and how to adapt it for complex needs
Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
Driving License: Highly desirable due to our rural location and limited public transport
Nice to have:
A postgraduate diploma in Autism
Experience working specifically with students who present with challenging behaviours
