Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated History & Geography Teacher to join our founding team at a brand-new SEND secondary school opening in September 2025. Located in Chaldon, Surrey, this is a rare opportunity to shape a Humanities curriculum from the ground up, specifically designed for young people aged 11-16 with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing needs.

Job Responsibility

  • Deliver high-quality History and Geography lessons tailored to students with autism and complex learning needs
  • Set, monitor, and review personalised targets to optimise learning for each student
  • Contribute to the review of EHCPs, PEPs, and LAC reviews, ensuring academic and social needs are met
  • Manage challenging behaviours through a non-confrontational, reflective approach in line with school policies
  • Maintain short, medium, and long-term plans while providing subject leadership across the school

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or equivalent
  • Proven experience delivering a differentiated curriculum to pupils with SEND
  • Sound knowledge of the National Curriculum and how to adapt it for complex needs
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team

Nice to have

  • A postgraduate diploma in Autism
  • Experience working specifically with students who present with challenging behaviours
