This is an exciting opportunity for a Geography Specialist to join a vibrant secondary school in Leeds. As a full-time member of the faculty (5 days a week), the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality Geography lessons across Key Stages 4 and 5, specifically targeting GCSE and A Level success. This maternity cover position begins in March 2026 and requires a dedicated professional who can maintain high academic standards while fostering a genuine curiosity for the subject. Given the nature of the school environment, the role may also involve some scheduled general cover, providing a chance to engage with a broader cross-section of the student body.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lesson Planning: Designing engaging schemes of work for GCSE and A Level
  • Assessment: Regular marking and feedback in line with departmental policy
  • Student Progress: Monitoring and recording the attainment of all learners
  • General Cover: Stepping in for colleagues across various subjects as timetabled
  • Parent's Evenings: Providing clear, constructive feedback to families on student performance
  • Exam Prep: Preparing students for external examinations through mock tests and revision
  • Differentiation: Tailoring lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners, including SEND
  • Departmental Meetings: Contributing to the growth and strategy of the Geography team

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
  • Thorough understanding of the UK National Curriculum
