This is an exciting opportunity for a Geography Specialist to join a vibrant secondary school in Leeds. As a full-time member of the faculty (5 days a week), the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality Geography lessons across Key Stages 4 and 5, specifically targeting GCSE and A Level success. This maternity cover position begins in March 2026 and requires a dedicated professional who can maintain high academic standards while fostering a genuine curiosity for the subject. Given the nature of the school environment, the role may also involve some scheduled general cover, providing a chance to engage with a broader cross-section of the student body.
Job Responsibility:
Lesson Planning: Designing engaging schemes of work for GCSE and A Level
Assessment: Regular marking and feedback in line with departmental policy
Student Progress: Monitoring and recording the attainment of all learners
General Cover: Stepping in for colleagues across various subjects as timetabled
Parent's Evenings: Providing clear, constructive feedback to families on student performance
Exam Prep: Preparing students for external examinations through mock tests and revision
Differentiation: Tailoring lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners, including SEND
Departmental Meetings: Contributing to the growth and strategy of the Geography team
Safeguarding: Upholding the safety and well-being of all students at all times
Resource Management: Maintaining and updating classroom materials and displays
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
Thorough understanding of the UK National Curriculum
Eligibility to work in the UK
