We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Key Stage 2 (Year 6) General Teaching Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in behaviour management and experience working with children who have SEN. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a special school as a Teaching Assistant, specifically catering to Key Stage 2 students. The role entails providing general support within the classroom setting. A minimum Level 2 qualification is required for this full-time position, which operates five days a week from 8:45 am to 3:15 pm.
Job Responsibility:
Reading, writing and SPAG support
Adjusting or breaking down activities to support participation and understanding
Developing a supportive relationship with the child that promotes self-esteem and confidence
Developing knowledge and understanding of the specific academic, physical, emotional and behavioural needs of the child and responding to them effectively
Liaising with the Teacher and SENCO about the development and support needed at home and in school for the child
Providing whole class, small group and 1:1 support
Monitoring and maintaining records of the pupil's progress
Assisting with general school duties which may include setting up classrooms, preparing resources and displays
Supervision of children during lunch times and during entry/exit of school premises
Requirements:
Enhanced child DBS on the update service or willingness to acquire a new one
Eligibility to work in the UK (sponsorship unavailable)
Preferred previous experience in educational settings, particularly schools
Provision of two recent professional references
Experience working with young people and class management skills
Comfortable managing challenging behaviour
Able to engage with and motivate children
TA Qualified
Experience working in KS2
Providing personalised support to individual students
Minimum Level 2 qualification
Experience working with children who have SEN
Strong background in behaviour management
Nice to have:

Experience in tailoring content to meet individual needs and incorporating their preferences to motivate and engage them
