Job Description:

A site in Ahoskie, NC is seeking General Surgery coverage on specific dates from May - November. The role involves working at a 114-bed hospital with a low-volume emergency department (15 beds), a 10-bed ICU, and serving approximately 21,000 patients per year.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide General Surgery coverage on specified dates
  • Handle inpatient care
  • Be on call, including nights and weekends
  • Perform surgical procedures
  • Manage patient caseload (average 7-8 patients/day, 1-2 admissions/day, 1-2 admissions/night)
  • Perform approximately 50 surgical cases per month

Requirements:

  • General Surgery coverage
  • Experience with specific procedures: Appendectomy, strangulated hernias, cholecystectomy, I&Ds, emergency procedures
  • Ability to handle inpatient care, call, nights, and weekends
  • Experience with EPIC (HealthSpan) EMR
