The General Services Waiter Support is an intermediate-level professional responsible for performing support tasks to ensure a positive dining experience, in coordination with the General Services function. The overall objective is to work as part of a team to engage customers, complete tasks efficiently and accurately, and mitigate potential issues and customer complaints. This role works under limited supervision.
Job Responsibility:
Provide day to day organization of, training and coaching, and scheduling for the Wait staff
Communicate with guests and Kitchen Staff to ensure orders are accurate and delivered promptly
Greet and escort customers to their tables, present menu, and provide detailed nutritional information
serve food and drink orders
Meet with restaurant staff to review daily specials, changes on the menu and service specifications for reservations (e.g. parties)
Inform customer’s of daily specials and offer recommendations upon request
up-sell additional products when appropriate
Prepare tables in advance by setting up linens, silverware and glasses
maintaining a tidy dining area
Take accurate food and drinks orders, using ordering software, order slips or by memorization
deliver checks and collect payment
Check customers’ IDs to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
Check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness/ presentation prior to serving
ensure compliance with health department regulations and report any problems
Cover shifts for absent staff to maintain seamless operation of kitchens and dining tables
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
Requirements:
1-3 years of serving experience required
Supervisor experience preferred
Cash register and ordering system experience preferred
