Job Description:

Polycor New England is looking for hard-working, positive team players to fill General Quarry Worker positions at our Jay, ME location. This is a year-round outdoor job involving the extraction of granite from our quarry.

Job Responsibility:

  • Drill holes in a granite block with a pneumatic hammer
  • Insert wedges into the holes and use a sledgehammer to break the blocks to the required dimensions
  • Operate drilling equipment
  • Operate saws to cut large blocks of granite from the open pit quarry
  • Follow policies and procedures to assure quality work
  • Maintain a clean work area
  • Work safely, according to guidelines and training, to prevent possible injuries to self and others
  • Perform additional duties as required

Requirements:

  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Must be willing to work overtime and some weekends
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Being comfortable with heights
