An exciting opportunity for a General Medicine Consultant to work within a supportive clinical environment in Australia. This role is ideal for a General Physician with a special interest in Neurology, offering flexible engagement models and varied working patterns to support work-life balance.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver comprehensive consultant-led care across General Medicine services
  • Manage acute and complex medical presentations with subspecialty Neurology input where appropriate
  • Provide clinical leadership and senior decision-making within multidisciplinary teams
  • Support safe patient flow, discharge planning and continuity of care
  • Supervise junior medical staff and contribute to service development initiatives

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year NHS experience

  • Work with nursing and therapy colleagues to ensure the stroke unit has sufficient capacity to accommodate all suitable stroke patients on admission to the hospital
  • Work with the local Hyper Acute Stroke Centre to ensure robust protocols for the transfer of patients following hyperacute treatments and/or stabilisation
  • Assist the management team with the development of future Consultant and junior doctor roles
  • Share responsibility for providing evidence-based standards of care for all inpatients and outpatients
  • Have regard at all times to the clinical and quality standards set out in the Patients Charter and the local purchasers contracts
  • Liaise effectively and on a timely basis with General Practitioners, community services and all healthcare agencies
  • Encourage and foster the governance process at clinical, managerial and medical levels and to take part in regional audit in support of evidence-based medicine
