This role serves as the senior executive responsible for strategic, commercial, and operational leadership of the company’s EPC portfolio in Guyana. The General Manager will oversee all country operations, drive business growth, ensure flawless project execution, and represent the company with government, utility, and private-sector stakeholders.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and execute a five-year country growth strategy, including market targets, revenue mix, and investment priorities
Diversify the EPC portfolio across power generation, transmission, industrial, and infrastructure sectors
Expand profitable O&M contracts with bankable SLAs
Identify new opportunities through partnerships, joint ventures, and public-private collaborations
Lead market intelligence and risk assessments to anticipate shifts in energy demand and policy
Present strategic plans and KPIs to the Executive Committee and Board
Provide executive oversight of all EPC projects, ensuring cost, schedule, and quality targets are met
Implement project governance frameworks including risk registers, stage-gate approvals, and performance audits
Approve major procurement strategies and vendor selections
Drive a culture of zero harm and compliance with HSSE and ISO standards
Resolve escalated project issues through cross-functional collaboration
Hold full P&L accountability for Guyana operations
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Approve commercial commitments in line with corporate risk appetite
Ensure financial governance, internal controls, and audit compliance
Oversee CapEx decisions and manage banking and insurance relationships
Serve as the primary commercial representative in Guyana
Lead contract negotiations with clients, partners, and subcontractors
Build trusted relationships with government, utilities, investors, and development banks
Represent the company in industry events and energy forums
Maintain proactive communication with corporate leadership
Build and lead a high-performance country management team
Define workforce strategy including recruitment, succession, and capability development
Drive leadership accountability through measurable goals and mentoring
Foster a culture of integrity, collaboration, and excellence
Champion diversity, local talent development, and employee engagement
Ensure compliance with national regulations and internal policies
Oversee risk management frameworks and mitigation plans
Manage contract claims and regulatory matters with legal counsel
Maintain ethical practices and transparent audit trails
Represent the company in public forums and media engagements
Promote the brand through thought leadership and participation in energy initiatives
Build alliances with trade associations and development institutions
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration
MBA or equivalent preferred
Minimum 15 years of experience in EPC or large-scale infrastructure, with at least 5 years in senior executive leadership
Proven track record in strategic growth, contract negotiation, and multi-project oversight
Deep understanding of EPC contracting models (FIDIC, turnkey, design-build), project finance, and risk management
Experience managing government and board-level stakeholder relationships
Strong financial literacy and corporate governance discipline
