Job Description

The General Manager is responsible for directing the hotel to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize profits while providing excellent service to the guest. The General Manager functions as the primary strategic leader of the hotel with responsibility for all aspects of the operation, including guest and employee satisfaction, human resources, financial performance and sales and revenue generation. The General Manager analyzes business results and works with the leadership team to develop effective strategies to address business needs.

Job Responsibility

  • Direct the hotel to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize profits while providing excellent service to the guest
  • Function as the primary strategic leader of the hotel with responsibility for all aspects of the operation, including guest and employee satisfaction, human resources, financial performance and sales and revenue generation
  • Analyze business results and work with the leadership team to develop effective strategies to address business needs
  • Strategically plan, develop and implement company policies and goals
  • Direct activities of divisions or departments such as Sales, Engineering, Front Office, Housekeeping, and F&B to affect operational efficiency and economy
  • Direct preparation of directives to division or department administrator outlining policy, program, or operations changes to be implemented
  • Ensure brand standards are met with the objective of meeting or exceeding guest expectations, communicating follow-up actions to the team as necessary
  • Prepare an annual budget with appropriate department heads to ensure the smooth operations of the hotel, set financial goals and plan expenses
  • Provide analysis and strategy of monthly business review and analysis of monthly P&L results, forecasting and STR analysis
  • Monitor actual sales and revenues to determine variance and assess goal accomplishments
  • Create an environment in which all employees have the ability to reach their full potential
  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales and marketing plans and programs, both short and long range, to support sales and revenue objectives of organization
  • Provide monthly analytics/metrics, reporting on the effectiveness of the strategies
  • Research, analyze, and monitor financial, technological, and demographic factors to capitalize on market opportunities and minimize effects of competitive activity
  • Anticipate and recommend strategies for need periods and help maximize revenue generation in peak times
  • Analyze department budget requests to identify areas in which reductions can be made and allocate operating budget
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Hotel policy and applicable laws
  • Follow 4 Keys service standards, standard operation procedures, and safety standards
  • Follow all appropriate policies and procedure while constantly striving to improve all standards of operations
  • Follow safety and security procedures
  • Work cohesively with co-workers and all departments
  • Adhere to attendance and reliability standards
  • Follow all additional duties as assigned by management
  • Will be required to work flexible scheduled shifts based on business needs
  • Scheduling includes holidays, nights, and weekends depending on hotel events and functions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 5 years of Resort/Hotel Management Experience
  • Marriott experience is a plus
  • Will be required to work flexible scheduled shifts based on business needs
