The General Manager (GM), Uber Eats Austria, is the single-threaded leader responsible for the strategy, growth, and P&L of the Uber Eats business across the country. This high-impact role requires an entrepreneurial mindset, exceptional commercial judgment, and robust operational skills to launch and lead one of Uber Eats' most dynamic European markets. You will set the vision, define the local strategy, help build and lead the local team, and act as the primary face of Uber Eats to the media, government, and key partners in Austria. You'll partner closely with the Regional leadership team to advocate for the Austrian market and leverage global resources for local success.
Job Responsibility:
Full P&L Ownership & Strategy
Own the Business: Take full responsibility for the financial health of Uber Eats Austria, including budgeting, forecasting, and driving key business levers to achieve sustainable, profitable growth
Set the Vision: Define and execute the comprehensive country strategy, including expansion into new cities or product verticals in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders
Marketplace Optimization: Continuously monitor and improve the health of the three-sided marketplace through data-driven operational and strategic initiatives
Operational Excellence & Execution
High-Impact Projects: Strategically lead high-priority, cross-functional projects aimed at improving operational efficiency
Team Leadership: Hire, mentor, and lead a high-performing local team
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary local conduit, working collaboratively with Regional and Global teams
External Representation & Partnership
Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the key external representative for Uber Eats Austria
Policy & Communications: Work directly with the Policy and Communications teams to manage local narratives
Requirements:
7+ years of professional experience in a high-growth, fast-paced commercial environment (e.g., tech, e-commerce, retail, consulting), with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role having direct P&L accountability
Business Acumen: Proven ability to manage a full P&L and drive revenue, margin, and market share growth
Analytical Skills: Exceptional ability to independently extract, interpret, and combine data from various sources to uncover root causes and generate actionable insights (familiarity with SQL and advanced data visualization is highly desirable)
Communication & Influence: Excellent interpersonal skills and situational awareness to clearly and persuasively deliver information to a variety of internal and external audiences, including C-level partners and government officials
Fluency in German & English (written and verbal) is required

Experience in on-demand logistics, delivery, or a multi-sided marketplace business model
Demonstrated ability to build, coach, and lead high-performing, multi-functional teams
Deep understanding of the Austrian consumer market and the local competitive and regulatory landscape
Ability and willingness to travel, mainly within the EMEA region, up to 25% of the time
