Our client in the SW area of Houston is seeking a General Manager/Operations leader to guide daily operations for a manufacturing and distribution environment. This role is responsible for aligning warehouse, inventory, customer-facing, and internal support functions to keep work moving efficiently and accurately. The ideal candidate brings a hands-on leadership style, strong business judgment, and the ability to improve processes while remaining involved in day-to-day operations.
Job Responsibility:
Direct daily activities across shipping, receiving, inventory control, customer service, inside sales, and related operational functions
Lead, coach, and support a team of 8 or more employees while setting clear expectations and maintaining accountability
Monitor operational performance through KPIs, prepare reports, and communicate results and recommendations to senior leadership
Strengthen inventory movement and warehouse workflows to improve accuracy, efficiency, and service levels
Identify process improvement opportunities and implement practical solutions that support business goals
Partner with customer-facing teams to address service issues, resolve shipment concerns, and maintain strong client satisfaction
Oversee purchasing and procurement-related activities as needed to support product availability and operational continuity
Step into daily operational tasks when necessary to ensure priorities are met and team objectives stay on track
Requirements:
7+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or closely related operational environment
Demonstrated background in purchasing, procurement, warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, and inventory management
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to guide teams and collaborate across departments
Solid analytical ability with experience tracking KPIs, preparing reports, and using data to drive decisions
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and confidence working with technology in a fast-paced business setting
High attention to detail and a proactive approach to ownership, problem-solving, and process improvement
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of supporting operational needs
Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred
