The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the overall maintenance and functionality of the hotel property not limited to guest rooms, front of house, back of house and public areas. Responsible for successful completion of assigned maintenance duties and daily tasks. He/she is also responsible for performing the job in a safe and efficient manner and performing trade jobs, such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, etc. This position requires someone who is self-driven, eager & willing to work alone and as a team. Estimated Schedule to include 2-3 shifts from 12:00 pm – 8:30 pm, and/or 2-3 shifts of 12:00am-8:30am. Will have a guaranteed two consecutive days off in a row. The perfect candidate will have full flexibility for any schedule changes and be open to working weekends & holidays
Job Responsibility:
Repair and maintain facility building and equipment
Handle guest room maintenance requests in a timely fashion
Perform preventative maintenance throughout the property such as mechanical, electrical, painting, carpentry and plumbing
Maintain accurate maintenance records
Respond and resolve engineering service requests in courteous, efficient manner
Maintain engineering work area in an orderly and clean fashion
Ensure all tools/equipment used are returned to the shop and/or secured in proper storage area
Assist in handling emergencies in order to protect our guests and team members and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency
Follow proper lost and found procedures for items left behind in a guest room
Report any items in need of repair
Follow all safety procedures while working
Comply at all times with Hyatt standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
Follow all hotel and departmental procedures and policies
Perform any other duties as requested by management
Approach all encounters with guests and colleagues in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner
Requirements:
Experience in a hotel or a related field preferred
Ability to be effective in handling opportunities in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
Ability to be effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying the issues raised by colleagues and guests
Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations
Ability to complete heavy work - exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Must work afternoon/evening shifts for weekends & be flexible to cover vacations & time off requests
