Job Description

Join a team that helps keep one of New Orleans’ premier hotels running smoothly and safely every day. As an Entry‑Level General Maintenance Engineer at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans, you’ll support the upkeep and functionality of our property by assisting with basic repairs, preventative maintenance, and responding to guest and team needs. Located in the heart of downtown and steps from the Superdome, our hotel operates at a fast pace serving guests from around the world. This role is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow a career in engineering or facilities maintenance within the hospitality industry.

Job Responsibility

  • Assist with routine maintenance and minor repairs in guest rooms, public spaces, and back‑of‑house areas
  • Support preventative maintenance programs for equipment and building systems
  • Respond to guest and colleague maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Perform basic tasks related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs
  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, shops, and equipment
  • Follow all safety procedures and report any hazards or issues
  • Assist senior engineers and supervisors with projects and troubleshooting
  • Accurately document work orders and completed tasks
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, comfortable, and well‑functioning environment

Requirements

  • Prior maintenance or facilities experience preferred but not required (entry‑level position)
  • Basic knowledge of tools and general repair work
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical skills across multiple trades
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude
  • Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills and a service‑oriented mindset
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • A commitment to safety and continuous learning
