Engineer I will be responsible for general maintenance repairs in guest rooms, meeting spaces, public areas. Additional responsibilities may include repairs to kitchen equipment, electrical, plumbing, requiring some mechanical skills in these areas in addition to strong communication skills. This person must be able to perform guest room PMs, RMIs, and HotSos tickets. This role requires routine equipment inspections, daily property rounds, meter readings, and general reporting for maintenance related items. Engineer 1 will train team-members, assist ENG 2 and ENG 3 on daily tasks and oversee the technical issues on property.
Job Responsibility
Perform regular inspections of the hotel premises and equipment to identify and address maintenance issues
Conduct preventive maintenance tasks on HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and other mechanical equipment
Ensure the hotel’s interior and exterior are well-maintained and in good repair
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues as needed
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff
Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components and fixtures
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and hotel policies
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance
Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans
Monitor and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment
Recommend the purchase of new equipment and supplies as needed
Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working order and properly stored
Work closely with other departments to ensure maintenance issues are resolved promptly
Assist in training and supervising junior maintenance staff as needed
Participate in meetings and provide input on maintenance-related issues
Maintain a high level of professionalism and courtesy when interacting with guests
Address guest complaints and maintenance requests promptly and effectively
Ensure that all guest areas are safe and comfortable
Requirements
A minimum of one year building maintenance experience is required, with hotel experience preferred
Good customer skills are also required
High school diploma or equivalent
technical or vocational training in a related field preferred
Experience in maintenance, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting is desired
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching
Ability to work in various environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, confined spaces)
