Randstad are recruiting for a Freelance General Foreman to work on a rail upgrade in East London for a Tier 2 Rail sub-contractor

Job Responsibility:

  • On-Site Management & Coordination
  • Supervise, coordinate, and delegate tasks to the on-site labour
  • Manage daily and weekly work schedules to meet project deadlines
  • Lead daily briefings (e.g., toolbox talks) and site inductions for new personnel
  • Resolve on-site issues and conflicts promptly to maintain workflow
  • Health & Safety
  • Enforce all health and safety regulations and ensure a safe working environment
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and risk assessments
  • Ensure all personnel wear the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Report and document any accidents, incidents, or near misses immediately
  • Quality Control & Planning
  • Monitor workmanship to ensure it meets quality standards and project requirements
  • Identify and rectify any defects in the work
  • Assist in short-term planning to overcome challenges and keep the project on schedule
  • Resource & Materials Management
  • Oversee the receipt, inspection, and proper storage of materials and equipment
  • Monitor resource usage to prevent waste and ensure efficiency
  • Manage the correct use and maintenance of plant, tools, and equipment
  • Communication & Reporting
  • Act as the primary on-site point of contact for the workforce and interface with Main Contractor
  • Report progress, delays, and issues directly to the Project Manager
  • Maintain accurate site records, including a daily diary, timesheets, and delivery dockets
  • Liaise with inspectors from local authorities or regulatory bodies as required

Requirements:

  • Rail experience as a site Supervisor, Works manager or General Foreman for a Rail Sub contractor
  • Must be eligible to live and work in the UK
