Job Description

We are seeking an experienced General Foreman with a solid Tier 1 contractor pedigree to join our team in Guildford. In this role, you will support and report directly to the Site Agent, taking ownership of supervising and delivering major sections of civil engineering packages safely, on time, and to program. This position demands a strong technical background in complex civils, a natural ability to manage multiple teams of supervisors and subcontractors, and the confidence to champion a positive, safety-first culture on-site. Prior experience operating within the UK water/wastewater sector under the AMP Framework is highly desirable.

Job Responsibility

  • Supervise, coordinate, and deliver complex sections of work safely, efficiently, and in line with main construction program
  • Directly manage teams of supervisors and subcontractors, driving positive site culture and enforcing HSEQ and workforce wellbeing
  • Work closely with Temporary Works Coordinator to feed into requirements and supervise live temporary works as Temporary Works Supervisor
  • Work proactively to a 4-week lookahead and master program, feeding updates into program reviews
  • Maintain comprehensive digital records including daily site diary and online check sheets
  • Maintain professional relationships with stakeholders including asset owners, clients, engineers, and local community

Requirements

  • Tier 1 civil engineering environment experience
  • Clear history of progression into Supervisory, Foreman or higher management role
  • Strong, demonstrable knowledge across complex civil activities including working around live buried services, shallow and deep drainage installation, excavation management, Reinforced Concrete structures
  • Fully proficient with digital site management tools
  • SMSTS
  • First Aid at Work (Valid 3-day certificate)
  • CSCS Card (Gold Supervisor or Black Manager preferred)
  • Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS) certificate
  • Full, valid UK Driving License
  • EUSR Water Hygiene Card (desirable)
  • Prior experience in UK water/wastewater sector under AMP Framework (highly desirable)
