Job Responsibility
Shape SiriusXM’s enterprise FCC regulatory strategy, aligning regulatory positions to technical, marketing, and product priorities
Develop positioning and prepare filings for company-critical FCC proceedings
Serve as one of the company’s external spokespersons on regulatory topics—represent SiriusXM before the FCC and in industry coalitions, conferences, and stakeholder forums
build networks with key decision makers (FCC Commissioners and staff, peer carriers/licensees, trade groups)
Provide executive-ready recommendations on regulatory risk posture and strategic tradeoffs
brief and influence senior company leaders across Legal, Engineering, Product, Business Development, and Sales
Implement quality standards for FCC submissions and communications
ensure a consistent “voice” and defensible record across matters with high external visibility
Manage portfolio of FCC licenses, ensuring compliance with license terms
Ensure company’s compliance with all applicable FCC rules and requirements
Inform corporate management and engineering team of FCC filings and other FCC activity relevant to the company’s interests
Provide legal advice and work with engineering team on electromagnetic interference concerns
Build durable relationships with FCC decision makers and key external stakeholders
Prepare periodic FCC reports on aspects of company’s operations
Keep up to date on the latest developments in the laws, regulations, and industry trends applicable to FCC licensing and compliance
Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
licensed to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction
Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of applicable experience at a law firm, FCC, or in-house legal department
Prior experience in FCC practice and procedure in multiple communications fields, including satellite, spectrum use, wireless, broadcast, and/or subscription services
Proven expertise in communications law that spans satellite + spectrum + wireless/broadcast issues, including interference/coordination and engineering-adjacent problem solving
Ability to communicate with senior management and corporate staff across all levels on regulatory issues affecting new concepts/products/technologies and recommend process, product, or service improvements
Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and business acumen
Excellent writing and other communication skills and ability to provide clear, actionable advice to cross functional teams
Experience with automation and/or AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.
