Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable General Accountant to join a construction company in Vaughan, ON. Experience in a professional services or architecture environment is considered an asset. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, analytical, and experienced with industry-relevant accounting and project management software.

Job Responsibility:

  • Record daily financial transactions and maintain accurate general ledgers
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including consultant and vendor payments
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements
  • Process payroll and maintain payroll records
  • Prepare and submit HST and other regulatory filings
  • Assist with year-end closing procedures
  • Generate financial reports (profit & loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports)
  • Maintain and manage project billing, time tracking, and invoicing
  • Maintain organized financial records and documentation
  • Liaise with external accountants and auditors as required

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
  • 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Experience in architecture, construction, or professional services firms is an asset
  • Relevant bookkeeping certification is considered an advantage
