SGC are seeking dedicated and vigilant Security Officers to join our team in Stanford-Le-Hope, working on a permanent basis (42 Hours per Week). To provide gatehouse security out-of-hours and weekends. The Security Officer is responsible for protecting personnel, vehicles, trailers, buildings, and goods while maintaining site security, controlling access, enforcing site rules, and responding appropriately to incidents and emergencies.
Job Responsibility
Control all vehicle and pedestrian access to the site
Verify the identity and authorisation of visitors, contractors, and drivers
Ensure only authorised personnel gain entry to the premises
Maintain accurate visitor, contractor, and vehicle records
Check driver identification and delivery documentation where required
Ensure all gates and access points remain secure when not in use
Conduct regular security patrols of Loading Yard, Trailer parking areas, Warehouse perimeter, Fence lines and gates, Gatehouse surroundings
Identify and report unauthorised persons, suspicious behaviour or activity, damage to fencing, gates, locks, or security infrastructure, unsecured trailers or open warehouse doors, any health and safety concerns
Monitor CCTV systems and security equipment where provided
Respond promptly to alarm activations and security alerts
Maintain detailed records within the security logbook
Monitor parked vehicles, trailers, and vulnerable site assets
Report incidents, observations, and security concerns immediately
Enforce all site policies and procedures including site speed limits, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, parking regulations, driver waiting area requirements, restricted access zones
Requirements
Valid SIA Licence (DS)
First Aid Certification
Clear criminal background check
Previous security experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling duties
Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends
Experience with access control and patrolling systems
Basic computer literacy for logging reports and using security systems
