Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Gate Agent to join our team on a contract basis in Bedford Park, Illinois. This role involves ensuring the safety and security of company premises, employees, contractors, and visitors, while adhering to established protocols and standards. If you have a strong background in security operations and a commitment to maintaining a secure environment, we encourage you to apply. Shift is M-F, 1:00pm-9:00pm.

Job Responsibility

  • Monitor entrances, exits, and perimeter areas to prevent unauthorized access or suspicious activities
  • Verify credentials for employees, contractors, and visitors, issuing badges as necessary
  • Operate and oversee surveillance systems and alarm panels to maintain situational awareness
  • Respond promptly to security alarms, incidents, and disturbances, providing thorough documentation
  • Assist with emergency situations such as evacuations, fire alarms, spills, or medical emergencies
  • Conduct regular patrols of buildings, grounds, and parking areas to ensure safety and compliance
  • Enforce company policies regarding access restrictions, smoking zones, and other safety measures
  • Maintain accurate logs of incidents, visitor activity, and shift reports
  • Participate in security investigations and provide detailed witness statements
  • Support training initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the security team

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • additional certifications in security are a plus
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or military-related roles is strongly preferred
  • Valid driver's license is required
  • possession of a State Guard Card or similar certification is advantageous
  • Proficiency in operating security systems, such as surveillance cameras and access control software
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Physical capability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, as well as lift up to 50 pounds
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all situations
