Job Description:

Wetherby Preparatory School seeks a dynamic and experienced Games Teacher to start in September 2026 to inspire a love of sport and physical activity among our students. The successful candidate will play a key role in the school’s sports program, fostering teamwork, resilience, and skill development while promoting physical well-being.

Job Responsibility:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate PE and sports lessons across the school
  • Coach teams in key sports, including Football, Rugby, Cricket, and Swimming
  • Introduce and support participation in other sports such as tennis, athletics, or basketball, based on student interests and school resources
  • Lead training sessions, matches, and tournaments, fostering both skill development and sportsmanship
  • Take part or lead an afterschool club based around a sporting activity
  • Occasional participation in weekend tournaments/matches as needed
  • Ensure all PE lessons and sports activities comply with health and safety regulations
  • Conduct regular risk assessments for sports facilities and activities

Requirements:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent, with a strong background in Physical Education and Sports
  • Experience coaching or teaching Football, Rugby, Cricket, and Swimming
  • A passion for promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work out schedules for tournaments and matches
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities
