The GA Process Engineer at General Motors LLC will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes, with a specific focus on process operations, to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Job Responsibility:
Design, develop, and implement robust machine processes for new and existing products, ensuring adherence to quality standards and production targets
Optimize current machine processes through continuous improvement methodologies, including lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles, to reduce waste and increase throughput
Conduct process capability studies, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation for machining-related issues
Collaborate with design engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure seamless integration of processes into the overall manufacturing flow
Specify, select, and procure new equipment, tooling, and fixtures, and oversee their installation and commissioning
Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, control plans, and FMEAs (Failure Mode and Effects Analyses) for operations
Provide technical support and training to production personnel on processes and equipment
Analyze production data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement data-driven solutions
Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in processes to drive innovation
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
Experience using engineering or manufacturing software tools
Experience managing small projects or assignments with guidance from senior engineers
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
Nice to have:
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for process design and simulation
Demonstrated experience with process optimization techniques (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma)
Experience with PLC programming and automation in a manufacturing setting is a plus
