Alter Domus, a leading global provider of fund and corporate services, is seeking a talented Fund Accountant, Tax to join our team based in Ogden, Utah. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients and contribute to a dynamic and collaborative team. The tax team works with fund administration and the client to provide services such as tax preparation, tax review, FATCA/CRS reporting, and 1099 preparation. Members of the tax team also offer tax compliance services, allowing the client to draw upon expert knowledge instantly. The ideal team member should be proficient with Excel, highly organized and proactive, have a strong work ethic, be an excellent team player, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Job Responsibility:
Collect financial and other information from the client or internal administration teams
Prepare tax workpapers including allocations and all tax related information for the tax year
Coordinate the work with interns and other internal resources for the clients assigned
Prepare federal and state tax returns using tax prep software and file with the required taxing authorities
Gather and analyze financial information from underlying portfolio companies for purposes of US filings – PFIC, CFCs, 926 forms, etc.
Prepare and manage 1099,1042, and FATCA/CRS reporting
Prepare tax basis calculations for partnership interests and PFICs
Develop relationships with client management and effectively and timely communicate engagement status
Identify and perform/review US withholding tax requirements relating to income allocations to foreign and tax-exempt recipients
Respond to tax authority requests & resolve tax notices
Respond to limited partners’ tax inquiries or ad-hoc requests
Research domestic and foreign tax reporting issues
Thoroughly review work completed prior to sending to supervisor for review
Contact clients for information requests and provide information and completed tax returns
Participate in, and lead, department improvement teams
Other projects as required
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
Microsoft Suite experience, including use of Excel
Highly organized and proactive, with follow-through on commitments
Personal and professional integrity
Strong work ethic, responsiveness and passion for customer service and quality
Excellent team player and good interpersonal skills
Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to follow instructions and receive feedback and review comments on work prepared
Tax experience or education required
Nice to have:
Alternative Investment tax experience preferred, not required
