As a VS Community Engagement Fundraising Volunteer, you will help us reach more victims of crime.

Job Responsibility

  • Identifying fundraising opportunities, organising and attending events and meetings to raise our VS profile
  • Engaging with our local communities to inform them about crime and our work
  • Gaining experience in planning and organising events and delivering presentations
  • Working in partnerships with local Community Voluntary Services (CVS), universities and other local partnership organisations
  • Representing Victim Support at CVS events, university events, pride events and local fetes

Requirements

  • Be 18 years of age or over
  • Be able to volunteer for at least 2-4 hours per week, for at least 6 months
  • Complete a 3-day workbook
  • Undertake a DBS check where required
  • Be able to provide two satisfactory references
  • Have an active email address that you are comfortable using in order to engage with VS communications

  • Prepare the donation box and select an appropriate number of pin badges
  • Record all placements on a spreadsheet
  • Arrange a convenient time with the venue for delivery
  • Deliver the box and ensure it is placed in a visible, accessible location
  • Inform the venue that you will return in approximately three months to collect donations and refill badges
  • Conduct follow up calls and arrange times to collect donations/refill the box for the fundraising team
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Isabel Hospice guidelines
  • Have a professional and courteous manner in accordance with Isabel Hospice policies

  • Utilizing independent judgment, conduct individual needs assessments on victims/survivors of alcohol and drugged driving crashes for emotional support, information, and referrals, implementing beneficial interventions based upon those assessments
  • Maintain current assessment of victim’s coping and need for further referrals
  • Based upon assessment, create and implement a tailored case management action plan for victims, which may include grief support assistance, crisis intervention, referrals for long-term counseling issues and other basic needs, as well as support group facilitation
  • May accompany victims/survivors to justice proceedings as appropriate. Provide advocacy by assisting in the protection and exertion of victims/survivor's rights and educating others about the criminal and civil justice systems
  • Ability to plan and execute a fundraising event
  • Must possess fundraising and development skill set
  • Conduct community needs assessments and analyze results to determine the development, facilitation, and implementation of appropriate victim services, programs and events
  • Based upon results of community needs assessments, create and implement effective outreach strategies to reach victims and survivors of drunk and drugged driving crashes who may not otherwise be aware of MADD Victim Services
  • Utilizing analysis of community needs assessment, establish and utilize a network of key individuals in the legal, medical, and social service systems to facilitate assistance for victims/survivors. Collect and maintain community resource information to share with victims and other Victim Services employees
  • Recruit, screen, train, deploy, and recognize volunteers who provide assistance in meeting Victim Service initiatives
