As a Funding Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting students facing financial hardship. You will be responsible for administering and managing hardship and emergency funding schemes, assessing applications, and ensuring that financial support reaches those who need it most. This role requires a unique balance of empathy and accuracy, ensuring that student support is delivered with compassion while remaining fully compliant with institutional policies and external regulations.
Job Responsibility:
Assessment & Decision Making: Process applications for hardship and emergency funds, reviewing evidence against agreed criteria to make fair and consistent funding decisions
Student Advice: Provide professional and empathetic guidance to students regarding their funding options and the application process
Record Management: Maintain meticulous records of applications and outcomes, ensuring full compliance with data protection (GDPR) and audit requirements
Collaboration: Work closely with wider student support services to provide a holistic support network for students in financial difficulty
Reporting: Monitor expenditure and demand, reporting on emerging trends to help shape future funding strategies
Policy Development: Contribute to the continuous improvement of hardship fund policies and communication materials
Institutional Support: Assist with key university events such as enrolment, graduation, open days, and clearing
Requirements:
Financial Administration: Experience managing financial processes, benefits, or grant funding
Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of data protection and financial regulations within a public or educational setting
Compassionate Support: Proven experience supporting vulnerable individuals with sensitivity and professionalism
Analytical Skills: The ability to make evidence-based decisions and interpret complex eligibility criteria
Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to explain complex information clearly
Attention to Detail: Strong record-keeping skills and a high level of accuracy

Experience working with students or young adults in an advisory capacity
