We are actively seeking a strong Contract Fund Accountant for a temporary assignment with potential for long-term hire. This role is ideal for someone with nonprofit, government funding, grants, or labor/community organization accounting experience who can jump in quickly and support day-to-day fund accounting operations.
Job Responsibility
Manage and maintain fund accounting records and general ledger activity
Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close support
Track and monitor grant funding, restricted funds, and program budgets
Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis
Prepare financial reports for leadership, programs, and funding agencies
Ensure compliance with grant, contract, and nonprofit accounting requirements
Support AP/AR, payroll allocations, and expense tracking across programs
Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts
Assist during audits and help gather supporting documentation
Work closely with program managers and finance leadership regarding fund usage and reporting
Maintain accurate accounting records in accounting/ERP systems and Excel
Requirements
3+ years of accounting experience with exposure to fund or grant accounting
Nonprofit, labor union, community services, or government-funded organization experience preferred
Strong understanding of GAAP and fund accounting principles
Advanced Excel skills required
Experience with accounting software/ERP systems
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
