Do you enjoy teaching in a way that’s practical, hands-on and outdoors rather than stuck behind four walls? We’re looking for an enthusiastic Functional Skills Tutor to support young people with special educational needs in a truly unique setting – a working farm where learning happens through nature, animals and real-life experiences. This is an opportunity to step away from a traditional classroom and deliver meaningful education that builds confidence, independence and everyday life skills.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver Functional Skills in English and Maths to young people with SEND
Plan creative, practical sessions that link learning to farm and outdoor activities
Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs and EHCP outcomes
Provide one-to-one and small group support
Work closely with colleagues to create engaging, personalised learning journeys
Help young people build confidence, independence and employability skills
Cultivating a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes independence, confidence, and a love for learning
Requirements:
Experience working with SEND children, preferably in an educational setting
Teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent)
A flexible, creative approach to learning delivery
Confidence working outside and incorporating nature and animals into sessions
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
