Job Description:

The Nursing department has an opening for a Full-time Interim Registered Practical Nurse at Rainy River Health Centre. The successful candidate must be able to meet the normal requirements of the job and possess the necessary qualifications.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide and coordinate nursing care to assigned clients, patients, and residents consistent with current Standards of Professional Practice with the Ontario College of Nurses
  • Accept shift rotation and assignments on other nursing units in accordance with staffing needs
  • Carry out all work assignments safely and be knowledgeable of and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Familiar and in compliance with occupational health & safety workers’ rights and responsibilities
  • Such other duties as may be delegated by the manager or supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Current Certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse
  • Current CPR
  • Demonstration of strong nursing practice, skill and judgement
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills including distinguished verbal communication abilities
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, leadership and mentoring skills
  • Exhibits the ability and competence to work with all computer systems and applications
  • Exercises behaviours consistent with Riverside Health Care’s Code of Conduct
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights and weekends

  • Responsible for planning, developing, facilitating, coordinating, and evaluating educational opportunities for nursing staff, including orientation and skills development in new technology, medications, and procedures for a broad range of practice competencies and medical directives based on patient population
  • Lead to resolve any issues or complaints that arise during the shift
  • Maintain a strong line of communication with appropriate Program managers/Directors/Physician Leaders for clinical and non-clinical issues
  • including the provision of shift-based documentation to ensure continuity
  • Address patient/family concerns and facilitates resolutions as appropriate
  • Completes safety walkabouts on the patient care units in conjunction with staff and take action to address issues identified
  • Monitors attendance of all staff, documents sick and absent calls and arrange for replacement staff
