Job Description

Join our growing team as a Full Time CT Technologist! Operates equipment and performs diagnostic and therapeutic CT procedures on patients according to established protocols to assist the physician in diagnosis and treatment. Follows established policies and procedures set by the department, hospital, state, ACR, TJC, and OSHA.

Job Responsibility

  • Operates equipment and performs diagnostic and therapeutic CT procedures on patients according to established protocols to assist the physician in diagnosis and treatment
  • Performs diagnostic computed tomography procedures by selecting correct exposure factors, algorithms and scan fields while utilizing the assessment of patient age and diagnosis to produce a technically accurate cross sectional images
  • Participates in complex invasive CT exams by assisting the radiologist in performing the procedure using proper sterile technique and producing CT images
  • May start intravenous sites, assess existing sites and inject intravenous contrast according to established protocols
  • Practices radiation safety through appropriate use of shielding, correct exposure factors and field sizes
  • Maintain the CT equipment in good operating order
  • Clean and disinfect equipment and area after each use
  • Demonstrates yearly competencies
  • Assess physician’s order and patient’s requisition for completeness
  • Documents pertinent patient and exam information and stores computerized images
  • Routinely prepare examination for interpretation by the radiologist
  • Possess computer skills appropriate to meet departmental needs
  • Performs and documents weekly quality assurance testing on equipment
  • Works effectively as a team member
  • Provides clinical supervision and instruction to students

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate AMA approved radiology program
  • Registered with American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)
  • CT state license
  • CPR certification may be required
  • Maintenance of continuing education credits as required by licensure

Nice to have

  • At least three year’s experience as a radiological technologist
  • ARRT Advanced CT Registry certified
  • Associates or Applied Science Degree in related field

  • Performs basic patient care functions. Informs appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient’s condition. Initiates life support measures for patients when necessary. Assists in “code blue” procedures during medical emergencies
  • Performs CT scanning and assists Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures. Practices proper sterile technique in the preparation of necessary supplies. Performs all invasive procedures in accordance with bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control policies and procedures
  • Is authorized to obtain medication or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner
  • Practices principle of radiation safety for self, employees, patients and family members. Follows appropriate radiation safety standards
