Job Description

The town of Douglas is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Building Commissioner. Complete job description may be found at www.douglas-ma.gov. Annual Salary range of $82,244-$89,234, depending on experience. Requirements: thorough knowledge of construction trades with at least five years of experience in supervision of building construction or design. Experience as a building commissioner or local inspector preferred. Knowledge of general requirements of building construction, fire prevention, light, ventilation and safe egress. Knowledge of regulations including the State Building Code, State Sanitary Code and local zoning by-laws. Must have ability to attend evening meetings with various town boards. Acts as town's ADA Coordinator. Must possess state supervisory construction license, certification as Building Commissioner, or able to attain certification within 12 months. Balance out cash drawer, process advance deposits when making reservations, and collect money and post transactions from other departments. Daily post office and banking runs
  • Perform any other inventory management changes as directed by the supervisor or manager
  • Prepare check-in packets for the upcoming week, order office supplies as needed
  • Enter maintenance and service requests in SPI promptly. Block RCI points for unpaid accounts. Manage RCI banking, membership changes, and cancellations
  • All other duties as assigned
