Job Description:

Our Manufacturing Data Platform is the backbone of robot traceability - capturing every component, calibration, and telemetry reading from factory birth through the entire product lifecycle. We need a versatile engineer who can own this platform end-to-end. As a Full Stack Engineer on the Manufacturing Data Platform, you will be the technical backbone of our Industrial Data Platform (IDP) - owning everything from edge data ingestion to cloud APIs to technician-facing applications. You'll design database schemas, build real-time telemetry pipelines, implement secure authentication, and create intuitive interfaces for factory technicians and end users. This role requires someone who can context-switch between backend services, frontend applications, data architecture, and security implementation. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive on ownership and breadth - you'll touch every layer of the stack and see your work directly impact robot manufacturing quality.

Job Responsibility:

  • Design and build RESTful APIs and WebSocket services using FastAPI on GCP Cloud Run
  • Implement recording mode orchestration: trigger self-checks, capture telemetry, manage session lifecycle
  • Build configuration push/pull APIs with version control and rollback capability
  • Create data pipelines for high-frequency telemetry ingestion (200Hz, 350KB/s per robot)
  • Build Progressive Web App (PWA) for factory technicians: QR scanning, robot diagnostics, recording controls
  • Create admin dashboards for fleet management, user administration, and audit log viewing
  • Implement real-time telemetry visualization with WebSocket integration (<500ms latency)
  • Design mobile-first interfaces optimized for factory floor use (large touch targets, high contrast)
  • Design and optimize database schemas: Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL) for relational data, Bigtable for time-series telemetry
  • Architect data storage strategy: immutable data (OTP), versioned calibration (EEPROM sync), time-series streaming
  • Build the robot genealogy system linking components, calibration, and manufacturing events
  • Implement data lifecycle management from EOL Data Fusion Station through product lifecycle
  • Implement OAuth 2.0 authentication using Google Identity Platform
  • Design and enforce Role-Based Access Control (RBAC): Viewer, Technician, Engineer, Admin, End User
  • Configure TLS/mTLS for edge-to-cloud communication
  • Build comprehensive audit logging for compliance and traceability
  • Manage infrastructure using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines with Cloud Build
  • Integrate with MQTT Sparkplug B for edge gateway communication via EMQX broker
  • Design store-and-forward patterns for offline data buffering on edge gateways
  • Build synchronization logic between local robot storage (EEPROM) and cloud databases
  • Collaborate with Robot OS teams on telemetry schemas and command protocols

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience spanning backend and frontend development
  • Strong proficiency in Python (FastAPI, SQLAlchemy) and TypeScript (React, Next.js)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred): Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, BigQuery
  • Solid understanding of database design: relational modeling, time-series databases, query optimization
  • Experience with real-time systems: WebSockets, message queues, or streaming pipelines
  • Understanding of authentication and authorization: OAuth 2.0, JWT, RBAC implementation
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Ability to work independently and own projects end-to-end

Nice to have:

  • Experience with MQTT, Sparkplug B, or industrial IoT protocols
  • Background in manufacturing, robotics, or hardware data systems
  • Experience with Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) and offline-first design
  • Familiarity with time-series databases (Bigtable, InfluxDB, TimescaleDB)
  • Experience with data visualization libraries (D3.js, Recharts, ECharts)
  • Understanding of edge computing: NVIDIA Jetson, industrial gateways
  • Experience with 3D visualization (Three.js) for robot status monitoring
  • Security certifications or experience with compliance frameworks (SOC 2)
What we offer:
  • Equity
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and holidays
