We are looking for a detail-oriented, hands-on Full-Cycle Bookkeeper to oversee daily accounting operations and financial reporting for a small, community-driven district organization. This individual will take full ownership of the accounting function, including AP/AR, reconciliations, payroll, reporting, and audit support, while ensuring compliance with applicable accounting and government regulations. This is a contract position requiring 5 days onsite (30–40 hours per week), with an initial transition period working alongside the outgoing bookkeeper.
Job Responsibility
Manage full-cycle accounting including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, collections, and vendor disbursements
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy of financial records in QuickBooks
Prepare monthly financial reports, including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and variance analysis
Lead month-end close and perform reconciliations for multiple bank and credit card accounts
Oversee cash flow management across multiple accounts, including treasury-related activities
Process payroll and ensure proper handling of tax withholdings and filings (EDD, payroll taxes, 1099s)
Assist with tax preparation and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Prepare audit schedules and maintain organized documentation for annual external audits
Track and manage fixed assets, including depreciation and amortization
Support budgeting processes and monitor actuals against budget
Prepare financial reports and supporting materials for Board presentations
Coordinate with county treasury, including bond-related payments and reporting requirements
Oversee bookkeeping functions related to registration office activities
Provide administrative and operational support as needed
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
5–10+ years of progressive bookkeeping experience
Background in nonprofit, government, or municipal accounting environments
Experience with Paylocity preferred
Professional certifications such as CB, CPB, or CPA are a plus
