Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper for a contract position based in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will assist with critical financial tasks, including account reconciliations, organizing financial records, and preparing tax-related documentation. This contract opportunity requires a detail-oriented individual capable of reviewing financial data, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring records are ready for external review.

Job Responsibility:

  • Organize and maintain financial records for tax filing and reporting purposes
  • Prepare detailed schedules and workpapers for external accounting and tax specialists
  • Conduct account analysis and support year-end closing activities
  • Assist with preparing 1099 forms, sales tax filings, franchise tax reports, and other required schedules
  • Collaborate with management and external accountants to address information requests
  • Ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and ready for submission
  • Perform reconciliations and review transactions to resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all financial information handled during the contract period
  • Provide support for cleaning up incomplete or disorganized books to streamline reporting

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software
  • Strong understanding of account reconciliations and transaction reviews
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and experience organizing financial records
  • Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines independently

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with incomplete or disorganized financial data is preferred
  • Familiarity with tax preparation and supporting external accounting processes
  • Knowledge of payroll support, intercompany transactions, and balance sheet cleanup is a plus
