We are looking for an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper to support a commercial real estate development and investment organization in Houston, Texas. This contract position offers the potential for a permanent role, is fully in-office, and provides the opportunity to manage daily accounting activities across multiple entities in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to keep financial records accurate, organized, and ready for internal review.
Job Responsibility:
Manage complete bookkeeping operations for the primary development company and its related investment entities, ensuring accurate records across each business unit
Review and code daily banking and credit card activity with a high level of accuracy and consistency
Prepare monthly account reconciliations and maintain reliable visibility into current cash balances
Lead the monthly close process and produce organized internal financial statements for management use
Track and reconcile intercompany activity while preserving clear documentation between entities
Administer payroll-related tasks, including tax payments, quarterly filings, and year-end wage reporting
Process vendor disbursements, maintain tax documentation, and assist with annual 1099 reporting requirements
Monitor project-level expenses, allocate costs by entity, and support recurring billings between related companies
Maintain fixed asset and capital expenditure records while distinguishing long-term improvements from operating expenses
Preserve orderly accounting records and enforce proper separation of financial activity across all entities
Requirements:
At least 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, including work in real estate development, construction accounting, or public accounting support for real estate clients
Demonstrated success handling accounting for multiple entities with strong organizational discipline
Advanced working knowledge of QuickBooks
experience with QuickBooks Enterprise is beneficial
Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and full charge bookkeeping processes
Practical knowledge of intercompany accounting, job cost tracking, and vendor or contractor payment administration
Familiarity with 1099 reporting support and payroll-related compliance activities
Ability to work in a permanent on-site role in Houston, Texas and manage a steady volume of transactions with accuracy
