We are looking for a detail-oriented Full Charge Bookkeeper to support accounting operations for a construction-focused business in West Babylon, New York. This role is ideal for someone who can independently manage day-to-day financial activity while keeping records accurate and current. The position will oversee core bookkeeping functions, contribute to month-end reporting, and help maintain smooth billing, payment, and payroll processes.
Job Responsibility:
Manage the complete bookkeeping cycle, maintaining accurate financial records and supporting daily accounting operations
Process vendor invoices, issue payments on time, and keep accounts payable documentation organized and up to date
Monitor incoming payments, prepare customer invoices, and follow up on outstanding balances to support healthy accounts receivable
Complete certified payroll activities in compliance with project and reporting requirements within the construction industry
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts regularly to ensure transactions are properly recorded and discrepancies are resolved quickly
Assist with month-end close by reviewing ledgers, preparing supporting schedules, and verifying the accuracy of financial data
Maintain records in QuickBooks and generate routine financial reports for internal review and decision-making.
Requirements:
At least 5 years of full charge bookkeeping experience with the ability to manage accounting functions independently
Prior experience in the construction industry is required
Proficiency with QuickBooks and confidence using it for daily accounting and reporting tasks
Strong working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations
Experience handling certified payroll and related compliance reporting
Solid understanding of month-end close procedures and general bookkeeping best practices
High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
