We are seeking an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper to join a dynamic law firm in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This short-term contract to permanent position requires a detail-oriented individual to manage all aspects of billing, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and general accounting operations. The ideal candidate will be skilled in using QuickBooks and legal billing systems, capable of handling complex financial processes, and comfortable working in a fast-paced legal environment.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee billing processes for multiple attorneys, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client requirements
Utilize legal billing platforms to submit invoices and allocate payments efficiently
Process payments, record deposits, and allocate funds to appropriate client matters
Administer full-cycle payroll for staff members, ensuring adherence to regulations
Manage accounts payable by reviewing, processing, and paying vendor invoices, credit card bills, and utilities
Reconcile bank and credit card statements to ensure financial accuracy
Maintain the general ledger and prepare financial statements as needed
Ensure documentation and audit trails are in place for all financial transactions
Collaborate with attorneys, legal staff, and vendors to resolve billing and payment issues
Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including the preparation of financial reports
Requirements:
At least 5 years of experience in full-charge bookkeeping, preferably in a detail-oriented services or legal environment
Proficiency in QuickBooks and familiarity with legal billing systems like PC Law
Experience using multiple legal billing portals to manage invoicing and payments
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and basic analytics
Strong knowledge of payroll processes and accounts payable/receivable best practices
Exceptional attention to detail and proven analytical problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational and time management abilities to handle high-volume tasks
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred
