The Shift Leader is responsible for assisting the management team in executing a solid restaurant operation. Ensures that each team member provides a quality experience for every guest. FOH team members should be guest-focused in their response to all guest needs. Guides the flow of business by maintaining the pace of the team members while visiting guests to ensure great guest service, food, and drink quality.
Job Responsibility:
Assist with the management of the restaurant in the absence of management, in accordance with the Company’s goals, policies and procedures, and in support of the management team
Provide aid to the management team with planning, directing, evaluating, and directing the work of the training and hourly team members, as well as handling complaints and performance management, complete rotation charts
Build relationships with our guests by introducing yourself
follow-up with guests on the quality of the dining experience and resolve any issues
Create the “environment” by bringing energy to and setting the pace of the shift
Interact with FOH team members to ensure they have everything they need to provide “Best of Class” service
Monitor the quality of food and ticket times in the kitchen – alley position
Follow-up on standards for all bar ingredients and ensure drinks are prepared with excellent quality and the guests receive their drink within 3 minutes of ordering
Deliver planned, quality pre-meals with educational content
Awareness of restaurant goals – previous year, this year, relative trends: Sales – Check Average
Liquor Sales
Contribute to overall shift productivity: Cash handling – making change, server cash outs
POS functions – hourly and basic management functions
Encourage overall shift productivity by setting the pace in the dining room and bar
Use of labor card to monitor team member in/ out times in line with TLC goals
Expanded functions after core functions are mastered in order to support management and increase operations knowledge
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Working knowledge and application of core company values, policies, and procedures
Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to challenging situations
Basic computer knowledge of computer systems and Microsoft Office applications
Ability to lead and assist with management and hourly team member training and development
Must have a proven track record of achieving results and building a winning team
Proficient in multi-tasking, organization, problem-solving, decision-making, interviewing, basic math, analytical thinking, time management, and team building
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Experience/Training: Shift Leaders are role models for all team members through the standards they set for their own performance and their ability to communicate restaurant goals
Must have working knowledge of basic kitchen operations (line checks, safety & sanitation, equipment operations, and Food Quality Assurance)
