This Front-End Engineer role has been created due to continued growth and reports to the Director of Engineering. It sits within a fast-paced, product-led SaaS environment and works closely with an international engineering team. The role focuses on designing, building, and evolving the front end of the product. It contributes to delivering high-quality, innovative software to a high engineering standard. The role operates within cross-functional product squads using Scrum, where collaboration and shared ownership are central.
Job Responsibility:
Building new front-end features and continuously improving existing functionality as part of a product-focused engineering squad
Collaborating closely with designers and fellow engineers to deliver intuitive, high-quality user experiences
Contributing to shared ownership of the application’s architecture and technical direction
Working effectively in an agile, distributed environment with both on-site and remote colleagues
Supporting and learning from other engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices
Be involved across the full development lifecycle, from design and implementation through to testing and release
Working across a modern tech stack, primarily focused on front-end development, with some exposure to backend technologies
Reviewing code, participating in retrospectives and post-mortems, and actively contributing to continuous improvement within a cross-cultural team
Requirements:
At least 3 years’ hands-on experience building modern front ends using technologies such as Vue.js (or React)
Strong HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals
Comfortable writing modern, maintainable CSS
Solid understanding of HTTP and REST APIs and how front ends integrate with backend services
Good understanding of browser fundamentals and platform features, including common browser APIs, client-side storage options
Interest in front-end performance, with some experience using browser developer tools (including the Performance tab) to investigate and reason about rendering, scripting, and network-related performance issues
Nice to have:
Familiarity with design systems or using design tokens
Experience or interest in working with a component-driven development approach, building and validating reusable UI components in isolation using tools such as Storybook
Familiarity with interactive component tests, JavaScript unit tests, end-to-end testing tools like Playwright, and API mocking tools such as Mock Service Worker (MSW)
