Job Description:

Westminster School is looking for a passionate linguist and ambassador for the French language to join the Modern Languages Department. The French Assistant will teach KS4 pupils in small groups, and KS5 pupils 1:1, in pairs or in small groups. They will focus on students’ oral proficiency and work nearly exclusively in the target language, working together with the class teacher to ensure that oral lessons complement the overall curriculum and teaching approach. The postholder will report to the Head of French and on some occasions the Head of Modern Languages.

Job Responsibility:

  • Teach KS4 pupils in small groups
  • Teach KS5 pupils 1:1, in pairs or in small groups
  • Focus on students’ oral proficiency
  • Work nearly exclusively in the target language
  • Work together with the class teacher to ensure oral lessons complement the overall curriculum and teaching approach
  • Support the running of Societies and events

Requirements:

  • Fluent and highly literate speakers of their language
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any subject
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Willingness to be involved in the wider life of the department
