Job Description

Our Jilalan depot is seeking an additional shunter (trainee) to join the team. This role will suit someone who is keen to commence working in the rail industry with good concentration skills and situational awareness. This role will see you involved in coordinating movements of trains within a complex and busy yard.

Job Responsibility

  • coordinating movements of trains within a complex and busy yard
  • shunting and yard duties (including cleaning)
  • examine and certify trains as ready for departure
  • work in accordance with Aurizon's safety and operational standards and procedures
  • provide excellent customer service

Requirements

  • keen to commence working in the rail industry with good concentration skills and situational awareness
  • all-encompassing focus on safety along with great people skills
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to work a rotating shift roster including early starts, nights, weekends & public holiday
  • superior teamwork skills
  • able to work outside for long periods of time
  • ability to meet CAT 1 Rail Medical Assessment and other pre-offer checks
  • current unrestricted Class C drivers' licence
