Job Description:

Aurizon is currently seeking a shunt qualified Freight Operator (Level 4) for our Acacia Ridge depot. This role will suit someone who is keen to commence working in the rail industry with good concentration skills and situational awareness. This role will see you involved in coordinating movements of trains within a complex and busy yard.

Job Responsibility:

  • Shunting and yard duties (including cleaning/provisioning)
  • Examine and certify trains as ready for departure
  • Undertake the theoretical and practical components of the training program
  • Ensure that the loading and unloading of customer's products are carried out efficiently and safely
  • Conduct brake testing of trains
  • Effectively communicate with other depot personnel face to face and via two way radio
  • Drive Aurizon motor vehicles as required
  • Work in accordance with Aurizons safety and operational standards and procedures

Requirements:

  • Shunt Qualified or the ability to obtain
  • C Class Manual Drivers Licence (mandatory)
  • A willingness to work a 24/7 roster and shift lengths of up to 12 hours
